Description
Exc.(+) Condition. SN: 235172. Original gold hardware.
Mahogany banjo with sunburst finish. This 1964 Gibson PB-250 Special has typical “bowtie” banjo appointments: “Guitar” style peghead and “bowtie” inlay pattern. Blackened face of peghead with pearl inlay Gibson logo and crown inlay in center. Peghead bound with cream binding. Black on white truss rod cover. Single antiqued white binding along fingerboard and multiple bindings on top and back edge of resonator. Multi concentric circles in back of resonator. Appears to be original nut. Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with large pearl “bowtie” inlays and Mastertone block at 22nd fret.
Neck is nice and straight with no problems. Resonator is very clean with no wear patterns on back. As an added bonus, not only is the banjo in great shape, but it comes with an original hardshell case. This is the same case for a 5-string or plectrum, and is valuable as such. The case is in good shape, yellow lining intact, the cloth holding the lid upright is in good shape, all latches and hinges work fine.
