This 1986 Martin OM-28 Custom is a very nice guitar. The Mahogany peghead overlay has the “Martin & Co.” decal at the top. Nickel Martin tuners with Nickel buttons. Bone nut. The Ebony fingerboard  has small diamond pearl inlays and small side dot position markers on the bass side of the fingerboard. Diamond volute on the shallow “C” profile neck. Cream heelcap.

The Spruce top has two repaired cracks below the bridge, and it has a good amount of crackle finish. It has a tortoise pickguard and a simple soundhole rosette made up of 3 concentric circles of white and black alternating lines. Ebony bridge with a bone saddle and white plastic bridge pins with black dots. Herringbone purfling before the binding on the top edge. Indian Rosewood back and sides are in good shape besides the crackle finish and the occasional stray mark. Interesting back strip down the center of the Rosewood back and binding on the back edge. Cream heelcap. White plastic end pin with a black dot.

This guitar has been employed as a gigging instrument. There are a few signs of use. The Spruce top has finish checking and also has two long repaired cracks that run parallel to each other from the bridge to the binding below the bridge. Barely any wear on recent professional fret work.

This 1986 Martin OM-28 Custom is a very nice guitar despite some cosmetic flaws. The playability is really great, and the tone is very sweet as well. Comes with a hard case.
