This 1992 Flatiron F-5 Artist is a traditional F model mandolin built in Bozeman, Montana. Highly figured Maple back, sides and neck and a Spruce top. Its in great original condition but does have some stringing scratches on the peghead and a ding here and there. An abbreviated Ebony pickguard covers some finger wear thru finish in that area. The whole mandolin is “multiple bound”, with ivoroid bindings showing black purfling accent lines from the sides of the peghead, the neck, and the top and back of body.

Ebony peghead veneer shows The Flatiron logo pearl inlay at top and an abalone and pearl Fern inlay in center. Truss rod cavity cover near nut.
Black rear peghead veneer with Gold Schaller tuners with pearloid buttons. Radiused Gabon Ebony fingerboard has pearl dot inlays and and original jumbo frets. Fretboard has single cut extension, with all 24 frets accessible.

Abbreviated Ebony pickguard installed more recently. The pickguard does cover some pick/finger wear thru the finish. Original 2-pc Loar style Ebony adjustable bridge. Tailpiece is a newer polished brass 2-pc version that is a copy of the original.

The finish is a handsome sunburst. The set-up is fine and the mandolin has a fully wide open sound.
Comes with original hard case.
