Description

This 2008 Huber “Jim Mills” model banjo is a great one. Using highest grade components Huber has built this model closely to Jim Mills’ pre-war Gibson RB-75 “Mack Crowe”. The addition of unique gold engraved hardware reminds one of a traditional gold engraved “Granada” motif. The high grade components include an excellent 3-ply hard Maple rim, the Huber exclusive Jim Mills model Vintage Flathead tone ring, excellent gold engraved hardware, and excellent Mahogany Neck and Resonator. With the recent passing of Jim Mills there is a bit more attention on these nicely appointed Jim Mills Signature banjos.

True to the late ’30’s Gibson RB-75, these Mahogany banjos have double-cut peghead, plain white bindings and concentric circles in back of resonator.

Blackened peghead shows Huber pearl logo inlaid at top with diamond pattern with floral pattern at edges. Gold Waverly 2-band offset pre-war style tuners with ivoroid buttons. Gold Schaller 5th string tuner, also with ivoroid button. Neck has a pre-war “Vee” profile and has a “speed neck” treatment to the playing area lacquer of back of neck.  Truss rod cover is positioned just above the bone nut.
Beautiful Rosewood flat fingerboard with MOP pre-war RB-75 pattern inlays. At 21st fret a MOP block is engraved with Jim Mills’ name.

The pot consists of excellent 3-ply hard Maple rim, one-pc pot metal flange, Huber special Jim Mills tone ring. All metal parts are gold plated, with tone ring, tailpiece and armrest are engraved and gold plated.

SN: 907-118. Comes with its original hard case. Slight playing wear in first position frets and fingerboard, but only on the first few frets.
