This 2009 “Givens Legacy” F-5 is a nice instrument that was built after Bob Givens’ passing.
Steve Weil, who worked alongside Bob Givens for 10 years, built this one using the Givens name in his brand. The Givens family encouraged him to continue to build instruments and he did for years after Bob Givens died.
This traditional F-5 was built with local North Idaho Engelmann Spruce and high-grade figured domestic Maple. Two-pc Gold tailpiece with removeable lid. Two-pc Givens style adjustable Ebony bridge.
Fully bound with multiple accent lines found on body and peghead. Gold Schaller tuners.
The Ebony peghead veneer has Givens inlay at top with elaborate torch inlaid in pearl and abalone below. Trussrod access is through the endpin hole.
Wooden armrest. Ebony Fingerboard has engraved “snowflakes” inlay.
The beautiful sunburst is a red-gold center to brown amber edges. The nitro-cellulose lacquer is in good shape but does have some finish checking on the Spruce top and the peghead face.
This mandolin is in great shape and comes with good case.
