This 2023 Martin SC-13E Special is a very nice guitar in very nice condition. It showcases quite a few interesting innovations: The “S” stands for the asymmetrical body shape; The back and sides are Ziricote veneer; The tuners have different ratios for each string; New “ring” inlays in Ebony fingerboard; L.R. Baggs Element P/U system; Low profile neck; Bolt-on adjustable neck with Martin official shim set included (for changing neck angle); 13-fret neck joint.
This is a well-thought-out guitar. I stopped in the above paragraph before I discussed the great Martin neck shim set (that was purchased separately), or the enhanced neck heel cutaway
access.
The back is X-braced, the Sitka Spruce top is scalloped X-brace. Sloping rounded cutaway. Top edge of body has white outer bindings with blk/wh/blk inside purflings. Tortoise pickguard.
Vivid 4-pc soundhole rosette.
Un-dyed Ebony peghead overlay, fingerboard and bridge. Spruce top. Ziricote ply back and sides. Mahogany neck. White bridge pins with brown dots. Metal strap buttons factory installed. Easy battery access for pickup at endpin. Pickup controls for Vol and Tone are under the lip of the soundhole.
There are only 3-4 tiny smooth dents in the lacquer, mostly below the pickguard and bridge. These are hard to see when looking directly at the guitar.
Comes with excellent Martin substantial gig bag.
