The Builder of this Blues Hardware Baroque Fiddle, Tom Sheehy, typically makes mandolins and sometimes acoustic and electric guitars, but he decided to take on a challenge and make another violin.
The previous violin he made had a trumpet-like bell attached, to project the tone. That instrument reminded us of Lloyd Loar’s work with Vivi-Tone, making violins with horns on them.

This new Baroque Fiddle is pretty nice. As always there are some clever innovations here and there on the instrument. The main one you will notice right away is the end of the neck, where you expect to see the usual scroll. Tom’s take on it was to carve the neck into an elegant swan’s neck. The f-holes are stylized to be slightly more angular than traditional examples.

Maple back, sides and neck. Spruce top. Rosewood pegs. Exotic hardwood fingerboard. Metal fine tuner tailpiece. Boxwood chin rest. Non-Ebony woods used for nut and tailgut saddle.

This Baroque Fiddle, as Tom deems it, would be an excellent on-stage instrument with the simple installation of a good pickup.
The sound is robust and balanced.

Comes with a good case.
