Newer Schaller Tuners
Newer Fiberskyn Head
30 Brackets / 26.5″ Scale
This is an original 1892 Fairbanks & Cole 5-string banjo with an 11-1/2″ pot. The tuners have been changed to modern Schaller planetary tuners with Schaller 5th geared tuner, all with matching pearloid buttons. Also, the “no knot” tailpiece is almost certainly a newer version “no knot”. The other metal parts all appear to be original. This includes: Tension hoop, hooks, nuts, shoes, dowel stick adjusters and even the frets appear to be original. The neck is in great shape with no cracks or repairs.
The pot is an 11-1/2″ rim that is “spun over”(metal clad). It currently has a fiberskyn textured head installed.
The neck is a nice feeling “V” profile neck. The fingerboard has original small frets and nice big pearl inlays.
The sound is wonderful. Even with the current nylon strings it has a big full sound.
Comes with a modern Travelite case.
