This Late 40’s Gibson LG-2 is a very good playing and sounding example. It has had expert restorative maintenance and repairs. This work was done by a high-level luthier who did such a great job that you celebrate the repairs instead of apologizing for them.
The tone is full and balanced.

The darkened peghead overlay features the “Gibson” decal at the top. This specific decal signifies this guitar is from around 1947-1951, which is how we identified the general year with no serial number. Nickel three-on-a-plate tuners with cream buttons. The back edge of the peghead has been touched up with lacquer. The “C” profile neck has been lacquer filled in a couple areas of wear which helps with the playability of this guitar. Black strap button installed in the correct position on the heel. The Rosewood fingerboard has pearl dot inlays and side dot position markers.

The Spruce top has crack repairs on both sides of the bridge, and one on the bass side of the fingerboard down to the soundhole. These repairs were touched up and the top was buffed. The Rosewood bridge has horn bridge pins with pearl dots and a bone saddle. Non-original pickguard is slightly smaller than the original. Antiqued binding on the top edge. The Mahogany back and sides have been buffed, and the back has three repaired cracks.

This late 40’s Gibson LG-2 is a great sounding instrument with very good set-up and playability. Comes with a newer hard case.
