This new Collings D2HGV is just arriving to us and it already sounds fantastic. It is a pleasure to play with the vintage neck shape and bridge. German Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back and sides, and a generous rounded “V” profile neck.
The Rosewood peghead overlay features “Collings” inlaid in pearl at the top. Nickel Waverly open-back tuners with lobed buttons. Bone nut. The Ebony fingerboard has small diamond inlays, and small side dot position markers. The rounded “V’ profile Mahogany neck is perfect for anyone looking for a slightly chunkier neck, similar to some 30’s and 40’s necks. Diamond volute and ivoroid heelcap.
The German Spruce top beautiful with some nice wavy figure. Ebony bridge has Ebony pins with pearl dots, and a bone saddle. Tortoise pickguard, and herringbone purfling before the ivoroid binding on the top edge. The Indian Rosewood back and sides have a great purplish color. “Zipper” backstrip separates the two piece back. Ivoroid binding on the back edge, ivoroid endwedge, and an Ebony end pin with a pearl dot.
This new Collings D2HGV has a great vintage feel with powerful tone. It is just waiting to be played and opened up. Collings never disappoints. Comes with the original hard case.
