This Cherry Red Tokai ES-130 is a very nice and very affordable copy of a Gibson ES-335. Very nice condition and playability. The guitar has a wonderful resonant responsiveness. The plucked note immediately transfers vibrational energy through the guitar; so much so, that you can practice with no amp.
Beautiful Cherry red finish over Maple. Blackened peghead overlay shows Tokai logo at top, simple stylized flowerpot in center and truss-rod access just above the nut. Tuners are Kluson DeLuxe copies with yellow-green tulip buttons.
Fingerboard appears to be a Rosewood or possibly Pau Ferro, fingerboard. This fingerboard is bound with the same cream binding seen on top and back of body. Dot inlays. Fingerboard has dark side dot position markers. Neck profile is a comfortable “C” shape.
Body is all Maple and is a true “Semi Hollow Body” with solid Maple block through the otherwise true hollow body. This block changes the fundamental resonances in very positive ways. The stop tailpiece and the tune-a-matic bridge are mounted to it, as well as the two humbucking pickups. The block allows the guitar to have the great tonal flavor of a hollowbody guitar without the threat of too much feedback.
ES-335 guitars have been called the “most versatile guitar ever” because of these aspects of its design. They are known as great guitars for: Rock & Roll, Blues, Jazz, Swing, etc.
