This 1976 Ibanez model 525 F-4 is a really nice sounding mandolin and it has just been professionally setup. It has a solid Spruce top with Maple back, sides, and neck. It has the “Ibanez” signature inlaid at the top of the peghead, and there is an elaborate pearl flowerpot inlay in the center. Truss rod access is situated above the bone nut. Gold Gotoh tuners with M.O.P. buttons. The Ebony fingerboard has interesting baroque abalone inlays, and black side dot position markers on the bass side of the antiqued cream fingerboard binding. The fingerboard has a double-cut extension that extends over the oval soundhole.
The Maple neck is a well-defined “V” profile and is in good shape with just a small area of thumb wear under the 1st – 2nd frets and one lacquer chip under the 6th fret. The back of the peghead has the serial number, L768058, stamped in the wood.
The Spruce top is in good shape with only the lightest wear from playing. The soundhole rosette is made up of 9 black/white alternating concentric lines with a cream line on the outside and the inside. The inside edge of the soundhole is bound. Two-piece Ebony bridge with Gold adjusting screws, and the tailpiece is a 2-pc, with “Ibanez” engraved in the center of the cover. The top and back are bound in antiqued ivoroid, and there is a wooden end pin with a pearloid dot. On the back edge, below the endpin, the binding was reglued.
This mandolin is in really great shape for its age, with only a minimal amount of stray dings and scratches. It sounds great and the setup is really nice. Comes with a good hard case.
