This 2016 Cherry Red Gibson SG Standard is quite a find. No playing wear. One significant ding on outside edge of treble side cutaway horn. Other than that, there is no player wear or signs of careless handling.
This SG is a perfect example of a company re-issuing an old favorite guitar and getting it right. The weight, balance, resonance, fit and finish are all top quality.
Black peghead veneer shows Gibson logo pearl inlay at top and the usual crown pearl inlay in center. Black/White truss rod cover just above the nut. Synthetic Ivory nut. Appears to be Madagascar Ebony fingerboard with pearloid trapezoid inlays. As mentioned above, the frets are perfect and show no wear. The neck is nice and true. Cream bindings around the fingerboard. Dark side dots in bass side binding.
The body is nearly perfect but does have the aforementioned chipped lacquer area on outside of treble horn. The back has very slight scratches. Blk/wh/blk/wh pickguard. Two humbucking pickups with Vol. and Tone knob for each and a 3-way p/u selector switch. Tune-a-matic bridge with stop tailpiece. “Gibson DeLuxe” branded Kluson style tuners with yellow tulip buttons. Appears to be Schaller strap locks installed at end of guitar and back of neck heel.
Comes in an Epiphone SG hard case.
