Description
Here’s a very cool and very affordable Gibson, a 1998 Gibson EC-20 with Cherry Red Finish. This guitar is basically built similar to a Gibson J-185 guitar. These guitars are sort of a “family” of J-185 derivative guitars that Gibson has produced starting in mid-1950’s. Everly Brothers model was one, so is the modern J-185 Blues King, the EC series (like this EC-20), the L-4A guitar model, the Starburst and some others.
This EC-20 has a rounded cutaway and is built of figured Maple and a Sitka Spruce top. It has a flat top and molded back. Three-pc Maple neck with Rosewood stringers.
The black Peghead overlay has Pearl Gibson logo inlaid at top with trillium floral pearl inlay in center with truss rod cover and access above the nut.
Appears to be Brazilian Rosewood Fingerboard and Bridge. The Fingerboard has repeating pattern of the pearl trillium florets inlay. The Spruce top has Abalone soundhole rosette and black/white pickguard. The top edge has cream bindings with black accent purfling seen from the top. The back has single cream binding around back edge. Cream End Wedge. Cream heelcap with black accent purfling along the sides.
The bridge also appears to be Brazilian Rosewood with a boxed intonated saddle and cream bridge pins.
Comes with good set-up, full developed tone and a good hard case.
