This new Collings MF Deluxe mandolin has just arrived and is already exhibiting signs of greatness! Traditionally built, with high grade Spruce and Maple and Gabon Ebony fittings.

The Neck is a very comfortable rounded V profile, with Eastern Hard Maple neck wood and Gabon Ebony peghead overlay and Fingerboard. The peghead shows Collings logo pearl inlay at the top and an Ebony truss rod access cover lower. Bone nut. Blackened back of peghead. Nickel Gotoh tuners with ivoroid buttons. The Gabon Ebony radiused fingerboard has graduated pearl dot inlays. The fingerboard has the stylized Collings double-cut extension and is fully bound with ivoroid. Fingerboard binding has side dots in the bass side for a further position aid.

The Body looks so good… everything is perfect! The Adirondack Red Spruce top is wonderful, with good grain variance. It has very wide growth ring spacing on left and right sides and very tight rings at the center. The abbreviated Gabon Ebony pickguard plate is bound with matching ivoroid. Gabon Ebony 2-pc Loar style adjustable intonated bridge. Nickel one-piece Collings tailpiece. Ebony endpin.
The highly figured Maple sides are perfect, as is the Maple 2-pc bookmatched back.

This is a gorgeous mandolin. Materials, fit and finish are all at highest levels of crafting a mandolin. It is a joy to hold and a joy to play.
