Description
This Louis Lowendall violin, made in Berlin in 1895, has Lowendall’s signature on label and inside the Maple back. Back of scroll reads “Lowendall Imperial Violin” and under that “H.C. Wiest” and “Gaylon” and one other line of text we could not read, is carved into the wood (see photos).
This is a nice violin of medium-brown color. Two-piece highly-figured Maple back with figured Maple sides and Maple neck. European Spruce top. Currently has mismatched pegs. Ebony fingerboard and Ebony tailpiece with one fine tuner. One slight f-hole crack off bass side of bridge. Corners scuffed.
