1923 Martin 0-28K

Exc Condition  /  SN: 19088
1-27/32″ width at nut

This 1923 Martin 0-28K is a fantastic guitar. It has a full Koa body with a nice “V” profile Mahogany neck. Rosewood peghead overlay on the slotted peghead with no inlays. Nickel open-back tuners with ivoroid buttons, and a “C.F. Martin & Co. Nazareth, PA” stamp on the back of the headstock. Diamond volute. Bone nut. Ebony fingerboard with small pearl diamond inlays, and small white side dot position markers on the bass side of the Ebony fingerboard. “V” profile Mahogany neck is very comfortable and does not feel as wide as the width at nut indicates. The neck has some small check marks and some wear on back of neck bole and on back of peghead. It has one large ding on the lower part of the neck down towards the heel. Ivoroid heel cap.

Ebony pyramid bridge is an excellent newer handmade correct copy. There is some slight sign of bridge work just in front of the bridge. Ebony bridge pins with pearl dots, and a bone saddle. Martin 28 style soundhole rosette with black, Koa, and yellow alternating lines. Herringbone purfling inside the ivoroid binding on the Koa top. The Koa top is in good shape besides dings and scratches that can be seen using the light. Koa sides have a fair amount of wear, especially on both sides of the lower bout. Zipper backstrip separating the two-piece Koa back. Three lines of purfling inside the ivoroid binding on the back edge of the Koa back. The back definitely has the most significant amount of wear. It has some small dings, along with some long scratch marks in the center towards the bottom and roughed up areas towards the top. These back scratches and dings are mostly in the finish and not the wood. Ivoroid end wedge with white endpin.

This Martin has wonderful tone and the playability is really great. This 1923 Martin 0-28k looks great despite the wear mentioned. The wear is mostly noticeable when light is reflecting off the wood, and when it is not, most of the wear is not that visible. Comes with a period original Lifton hard case.
