Width at nut: 1 7/8″ / pin spacing: 2 5/16″
One-owner guitar / slotted peghead 12-fret
This single-owner 1976 Martin 00-21 has been amazingly cared for. The only condition issue to address, is that the original black pickguard is beginning to pucker toward the bridge. No dings, no wear. This guitar was hardly played and it shows. There are a few polite lines of finish checking on the top. This condition is incredible for a vintage guitar of this age, and the tone is amazing.
Rosewood fingerboard has graduated pearl dot inlays and ivoroid side dots. Brazilian Rosewood heelcap. Rosewood peghead overlay. Black body binding on top and back, with top binding showing 5-ply black-white from the face. Back of the guitar shows multiple lines as well. Wooden marquetry center strip in back. Endwedge is black with white borders. Tuners are original 3-on-a-plate. Rosewood bridge with bone saddle. Black plastic pins with white dots for bridge and endpin. Original Martin bone nut. Black pickguard. Soundhole rosette is an attractive layering of three concentric circles of black/white/black with a fatter band in the middle (see photos).
High-grade top appears to be Adirondack Red Spruce and has beautifully honeyed over time. Beautiful quarter-sawn Indian Rosewood back and sides. Full triangular shallow V-neck profile.
Tone on this guitar is wonderfully open and expressive. Very big and powerful for a guitar of its size, with plenty of depth and a good Mahogany attack.
Comes with original Martin blue plastic molded case.
