Description
Exc (-) condition / SN: B1278
1-11/16″ width at nut.
This 1978 Gurian SM3 has really good tone and it is set up to play very nicely. It has definitely been played and had a few repairs. Spruce top with Mahogany back, sides, and “C” profile neck.
The Rosewood peghead overlay has a small “G” decal at the top. Black Schaller tuners with Nickel buttons. Bone nut. The Ebony fingerboard does not have any inlays, but it does have white dot position markers. The “C” profile neck has a couple small dings, but it is in good shape otherwise and it is shaped nicely all the way up the neck. Nickel strap button installed in the correct position on the heel. Rosewood heelcap. Small crack repair at the heel.
The Spruce top has a good amount of wear and repairs. The soundhole has been repaired in few different spots with wood reinforcements, and the bridge looks to have come off and been reglued somewhat sloppily. Other dings and scratches on the top as well. Rosewood bridge with bone pins and saddle. Tortoise plastic pickguard and herringbone soundhole rosette. Wooden marquetry purfling before the Rosewood binding on the top edge of the top. 3-4 inch crack that has been repaired on the treble side of the Mahogany at the waist. A few large scuffs, scratches, and dings on the Mahogany back and sides as well. Rosewood binding on the back edge of the Mahogany, as well as a Rosewood end wedge with a black plastic end pin installed.
This 1978 Michael Gurian SM3 is a great sounding guitar that has been opened up from clear signs of heavy use and repairs. It does not have any issues. Comes with a hard case.
