1991 RL Givens A-6 Mandolin – SOLD

This mandolin is great! It has wonderful figured Maple and wonderful finish and finish color. The sound is very full and not shy.

This is a very fine example of Bob Givens’ top A-model mandolin. It shows off the best woods, master workmanship, great condition, and superior tone. All original, including gold Schaller tuners with pearloid buttons, original nut, original bridge handmade by Bob Givens, and gold two-piece tailpiece. Incredible maple back showing “fishbone” figure. Highly figured sides and neck as well. Engelmann spruce top hand-cut by Givens. Fully multiple-bound with ivoroid bindings, with black line showing on top and back of body, along fingerboard, around peghead, and side of body. Celebrated red-gold sunburst finish is in great condition and was expertly applied very thin. Neck has a comfortable rounded V profile. Ebony peghead overlay with elaborate, hand-cut, hand-engraved abalone and pearl torch inlay. Blackened back of headstock. Ebony radiused fingerboard with famous engraved snowflake position marker inlays. Original frets with almost no wear. No player wear on back of neck, back of instrument, or on top.

This is an exceptionally clean and original mandolin that personifies great Givens tone. R.L. Givens signature under top and on the label.
