Highly figured Maple  /  1-3/16″ width at nut
Radiused F.B.

This banjo is an early Nechville Eclipse circa 1993. It features striking details, highly figured maple, and meticulous craftmanship by the renowned maker early in his career.

The peghead is distinctively shaped like a maple leaf with intricate lobes projecting outwards with fine points. The peghead design showcases fine craftsmanship, with attention given to every small detail including the delicate points, cups, and inward curves. The ebony peghead overlay is also shaped like a maple leaf. At the top is a truncated “Necvil” logo, indicative of its early origins. There is a mother-of-pearl six bladed flower inlay in the center below the logo. There is truss rod access above the nut. There is a volute at the top of the neck behind the nut.

The banjo’s one-piece neck is crafted from highly figured maple and displays beautiful striping and an amber gradient, transitioning from light brown to medium brown. The radiused fingerboard, made of ebony, has white-black binding along the sides and black on the outer edge. The fingerboard features stylized flower pedal blade inlays at various frets, culminating in a pearl block engraved with “Eclipse” at the twenty-first fret. There are railroad spikes at A, Bb, B, and C.

Minimal wear is evident on the fingerboard, mostly concentrated around the bridge area. The bridge is intonated, and a newer Prucha Presto tailpiece is installed. Tuners include a mix of Five-Star and Schaller with matching pearloid buttons.

The black anodized hardware is very durable. The brass armrest shows slight wear through the black Anodized finish. Nickel thumb screws and resonator hardware. The resonator side walls show highly figured maple and features black binding with inside white layer along the top and back edges.

Noteworthy is Nechville’s unique neck setting system, allowing the angle adjustment of the neck through a heel screw.

This meticulously crafted banjo produces a rich, rounded tone with a lot of bounce and energy. Comes with the original Pro-Tech semi-hard case.
