We are almost to the end of our run of these special banjos, known as “Specials” or “Limited” editions. Today ODE and UTE brands of open-back banjos are built using American Cherry wood.

These “specials” and “limited editions”, are made with Mahogany, Walnut, or Maple. These special banjos are made in small batches by Chuck Ogsbury, the founder of ODE and UTE banjo brands in Boulder Colorado.

UTE 12-inch maple limited open back banjo. The rim, neck, and dowel stick feature figured maple.

The peghead has a slightly squarish shape reminiscent of an old-style 1800s guitar peghead. The ebony peghead veneer contains the buffalo nickel inlay in the center. Truss rod adjustment access can be found above a bone nut.

K&H nickel tuners with iridescent bronze buttons both on the peghead and the fifth string in the neck.

The fingerboard is flat and made of rosewood with medium pearl dot inlays and cream-colored side dot position markers. The last four frets are scalloped away at a 45-degree angle, preventing fingernail injury during intense frailing sessions.

The banjo is equipped with a Remo Renaissance head and armrest made of exotic rosewood. There is a maple and ebony Dotson bridge. The tailpiece is a No Knot style. All hardware on the pot is antiqued, including the 26 hooks, nuts, and shoes. There is tortoiseshell celluloid binding on the outer bottom of the rim.

Comes with an OME gig bag.
