This custom 1999 Roy Noble Coco Bolo Dreadnought is a great example of Roy’s craftsmanship. It has wonderful tone and playability, but it also has beautiful design elements that make it very nice to just look at. Spruce top, shallow “D” profile Mahogany neck, Coco bolo sides, and Coco Bolo/Maple three piece back.
The Coco Bolo peghead overlay features a diagonal ivoroid strip acting as the only inlay, as well as a decorative truss rod cover with “Noble’ written down the center. Top edge of the peghead is bound in ivoroid. Gold Waverly open-back tuners with gold lobed buttons. Bone nut. The Ebony fingerboard has pearl diamond inlays, and black side dot position markers on the ivoroid fingerboard binding. Shallow “D” profile Mahogany neck is very comfortable with no dings or scratches. Maple heelcap.
The Spruce top has some lovely grain and coloration. Coco Bolo bridge with bone saddle and Ebony bridge pins with pearl dots. Herringbone soundhole rosette, and herringbone purfling before the flame Maple binding on the top edge the Spruce top. The pickguard is not currently on this guitar, but it is in the case and can be easily installed. One noticeable ding on the bass side of the upper bout on the top has been filled with lacquer. The Coco Bolo sides have some minor sporadic dings and scratches, but they are in great shape overall. The Coco Bolo back has a center strip of Maple that is about 5 inches wide at the butt, and it tapers down to about 2-1/2 inches at the top of the back. Maple binding on the back edge. Very minor signs of player wear on the back.
No strap button or end pin has ever been installed on this guitar, but both could easily be installed. Great guitar overall. Comes with the original hard case. This guitar is currently in the shop getting the pickguard reinstalled.
