This 2001 Gibson L-130 guitar is a workhorse. It is a fully wide-open guitar with a very strong presence. It has a “fully dressed” look for the stage, and great sound for the studio or jam.
This guitar reminds you of the shape of a J-185, but with a deeper body overall. It’s 3-7/8″ deep at upper bout near neck joint, and 4-3/4″ at lower bout at endpin. Made of Rosewood in the back, sides, peghead overlay, fingerboard and bridge. This Rosewood is not typical “Indian Rosewood”… it seems to me to be Bubinga Rosewood. Choice Sitka Spruce top. Mahogany neck.
Rosewood peghead overlay has pearl Gibson logo inlaid at top and crown flourish inlaid in center, with truss rod access near the nut. Nut and saddle are the original synthetic “tusq”(or similar). Rosewood fingerboard has “Trillium” motif pearl inlays for position markers. Abalone soundhole rosette. Tortoise plastic pickguard. Strap button on heel. K&K pickup installed.
Top edge has cream 6-ply binding while the back shows cream 4-ply bindings. Gold Grover tuners. Back has decorative wooden marquetry center strip.
On the neck of the guitar, there are just a couple of small touch-ups on the neck near the treble side of the third fret (it is slight). The back of the guitar shows regular handling with no obvious dings. The sides are in great shape. The top has just a couple of minor dings. Frets have some wear in first position but no buzzing. Overall this guitar is in very good playing condition and has been well-cared for.
Comes with brown original hardshell case that has black duct tape around frayed edges.
