Mahogany banjo with all high end pre-war style parts and good solid craftsmanship. Honduran Mahogany neck with fiddle cut peghead. Williams logo at top, with Hearts & Flowers inlay pattern below. Flat Rosewood fingerboard with Hearts & Flowers inlay. 21st fret has pearl block with Grangeville engraved. Ivoroid bindings around top and back of resonator and along fingerboard.
Excellent 3-ply Maple rim with Prucha/Ptacek flathead tonering. 1-pc pot metal flange. Nickel hardware. Gotoh tuners with pearloid buttons. Presto tailpiece. Back of resonator shows long lacquer checking lines. No wear in frets.
The sound is very strong. This banjo sounds good at several head tensions. Growling 3rd & 4th strings, nice ‘pop’ higher up the fingerboard.
