This Collings D-2 Herringbone has one of the finest examples of an Adirondack Red Spruce top. The grain varies from “four grains to the inch” to “20 grains to the inch”, across the top and features red streaking. Indian Rosewood back and sides. Mahogany neck with gently radiused Gabon Ebony fingerboard. Cut diamond abalone inlays in fingerboard. Pearl side dots. Superb Brazilian Rosewood peghead overlay with Collings inlaid in pearl at top. Original bone nut is still perfect. Nickel Waverly tuners with 3-lobe metal buttons. Strap button professionally installed in correct position on neck heel.

The body is bound (top and back) with ivoroid outer bindings. Top edge shows wooden herringbone marquetry. Soundhole rosette shows three concentric circles of small strips of wood and ivoroid. The back of guitar edge shows blakc-white purfling inside the binding and wooden “zipper” backstrip. Ivoroid heelcap and matching endwedge. Tortoise plastic pickguard. Gabon Ebony bridge with original bone intonated saddle. Ebony bridge pins and endpin have pearl dot.

This guitar is in such great condition, it’s hard to find a mark on it anywhere. No problems, no repairs, no dings.

Comes with excellent original TKL 5-ply American AVS case.
