This 2009 Martin D Mahogany 09 is a very nice Sustainable Wood guitar. Nice low action, great woods, good strong sound.
All the woods in this guitar are Certified by the “Forest Stewardship Council” as “Sustainable Woods”.
These woods are:
Genuine Mahogany Back, Sides, Neck, Head block & Tail block (Usually Cuban Mahogany or Honduran Mahogany – sometimes recovered and re-sawn from older boards, beams, etc).
German Spruce Top & Bracing (Technically referred to as “European Spruce”, Spruce woods from around Europe were Graded and sold from Germany and collectively known as “German Spruce” even if they were from Czech, Bosnia or Italy, etc. These Spruces are closely related to our Englemann Spruce, for tone).
Katolox Fingerboard and Bridge (Often referred to as “Mexican Ebony” it is well known for its heartiness, density, resistance to wear, etc).

* This “D Mahogany 09” is built much like an older Martin D-18, but with sustainable woods. These all have upgraded Spruce tops and advanced, scalloped braces. Also: “cut-thru” bone intonated saddle, bone nut, open-back Waverly pre-war style tuners (Made in Montana), and Vintage neck profile. Tortoise bindings and tortoise pickguards.
