This 2022 Pisgah 12″ Whyte Laydie open back banjo is the real thing. It is a very nice looking banjo, made using Maple and Persimmon (American Ebony), for a great look.
The “look” of this banjo is powerful with the Persimmon’s antique grey-brown dusty looking wood against the light blonde Maple with only thin black Ebony accent lines separating them. This makes for good contrasts all around the banjo. Another note about this “look” – As time passes and you’ve exposed this instrument to the sun and also to indoor lighting, the wood tones will darken a bit into more honey color, and hidden colors will appear and intensify in the Persimmon. * I am trying to say that this banjo will look more and more handsome as time goes by…

Even the neck profile feels like an old rounded “Vee” profile Vega banjo neck. You could say that this banjo was made with a new look with the lighter colored Maple and the Persimmon woods, but built with old world sensibilities.

The peghead is a simple shape with Persimmon peghead overlay. The overlay has wooden star marquetry inset in the middle. The peghead overlay and the neck itself is accented with a thin Ebony layer. This Ebony layer is under the peghead overlay, the Persimmon fingerboard and the heelcap.
Brass Gotoh tuners with black buttons.
The Persimmon fingerboard has black dot inlays and dark side dot position markers. It is scalloped after the 17th fret.

The Maple pot is 12″ with 1/2″ rim thickness. It has 18 diving bell shoes. The bottom of the blonde Maple pot is blackened.

This instrument is set-up to play and has its original Pisgah Gig Bag.
