Description
VG+ Condition / FON: 2182-21
1-3/4″ width at nut
This c.1942 Gibson L-50 has a fair amount of wear around the entirety of the instrument, as well as a few crack repairs on the top. Spruce top with Birdseye Maple back, sides, and full “U” profile Mahogany neck. All in all, it is in very good playing condition.
The darkened peghead features “Gibson” inlaid at the top in pearl. Replacement Kluson Deluxe 3-on-a-plate tuners with white buttons. Bone nut. The Rosewood fingerboard features pearl dot inlays and white side dot position markers. The neck is a full “U” profile. The neck has been played on so much that it has worn through the finish on most of the neck, which has caused it to be a “speed neck”. This wear has actually enhanced the comfortability of the neck, and has made it easy for quick chord transitions.
The Spruce top has a fair amount of player wear, especially on both sides of the fingerboard extension. Significant area of wear where the pickguard would typically be. Repaired cracks on the top: 7″ crack repair on the bass side of the top, from the bass side of the fingerboard extension, down toward the bridge; one crack on the bottom of the bass side F-hole; and one crack at the top of the bass side F-hole. Nice Birdseye Maple back and sides are in good shape with some player wear around. Ebony end pin. Cream binding on the top and back edge of the body.
This 1942 Gibson L-50 has a nice aged-wood tone.
