To preface this guitar’s description, let me say that as a former Lowden dealer, I’ve long admired the tonal capabilities of their guitars in a highly consistent manner.  My favorite tonal combination was like this c.1993 Lowden S-25, Rosewood and Cedar.  Lowden’s way of voicing these “25” model guitars was to let the Rosewood open up deep and lovely early, but keeps the lows balanced with clear mids and trebles.  Its really a great tonal combination… fast attack, but with a softness, as if a “pointed” note had a thin layer of fine cloth over it.  Big dynamic range.

The size is similar to an old Gibson “L-1 style” Nick Lucas model from the late 1920’s.  Simply but tastefully appointed, the unbound neck is 3-pc Mahogany with 2 Rosewood stringers at center.  Gold closed back tuners with Amber buttons.  Rosewood PH overlay has Lowden logo pearl inlay at top.  Bone nut.  Gabon Ebony fingerboard looks brand new.  Frets show a wisp of wear.

The Cedar top is perfect – wonderful color and grain.  The Satin finish really completes the look.  Clear pickguard.  Rosewood pinless bridge.  Wooden soundhole rosette, top and back bindings and end wedge.  Ebony heelcap.  The Rosewood back and sides have a distinctive color to Lowden.  Mahogany outer bindings.  I think I remember selling this very guitar to the only owner its ever had, around 27 years ago.

Exceptional condition and tone.  Comes with original hard case.
