Exc Condition / 22.75 scale length
This Early 50’s Gibson Es-140 guitar is a wonderful example of a refinish. It was skillfully done by a master refinisher, and it was done so well that it’s not a negative this guitar got a refinish. There is no way to tell why this guitar got a refinished. This is a Maple deep body, hollow body electric with a Mahogany neck. The Maple is very pretty with some Birdseye on the front and the back. The tuners have been changed to the newer “Gibson Deluxe” tuners with yellow/green tulip buttons.
There is a blackened peghead with a gold Gibson decal at the top, and the truss rod cavity is near the bone nut. The larger frets are in great condition. Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays and cream side dot position markers on the bass side of the fingerboard. The neck is a nice “C” profile. Old antique strap button installed on the heel. Sharp cutaway. The sunburst refinish is a regular tobacco sunburst, and it is as nice as you could hope for. looks to be the original P90 pickups and gold speed knobs for volume and tone control. Looks to be original bass bridge and original Nickel trapeze tailpiece. Newer tune-o-matic bridge installed. Original end pin and original pickup jack.
This is a very cool short scale deep body guitar.
