What a great guitar! Roy Noble is known for 50+ years of building studio-grade instruments and this 2011 Mahogany Concert Deluxe certainly reaffirms that.
Its built with very nice grade Sitka Spruce top, and with Amazon Mahogany back and sides and neck. Brazilian Rosewood peghead overlay. Gabon Ebony fingerboard and bridge. Ebony bridge pins. Bone nut and saddle.
Body bound with flamed Maple outer bindings, around top and back edges, and on heel cap and end-wedge. Spruce top has special colored wood “spiral” purflings inside the binding. This handmade spiral purfling is quite beautiful and creates an optical illusion of a true spiraling “rope” of the colored woods. Brazilian RW peghead overlay shows Roy Noble’s Maple “slanted line” that he inset into many guitars over the years, as well as his “Maple with pearl overlay” truss-rod cover, with Noble logo in center. Ebony fingerboard has no inlays. Same colorful “spiral” wood marquetry in soundhole rosette. Ebony bridge with boxed bone saddle.
All of the woods show great character of grain and color. This guitar has been very lightly enjoyed with almost no visible signs of prior ownership.
Roy Noble guitars have a long history of studio recordings, with one of the most famous players being Clarence White, who owned and recorded with Roy Noble guitars.
The set-up is nice and the sound is quite powerful and lovely at the same time. The neck is a low-profile “D” shape. Comes with good hardshell case. No endpin or strap button installed.
