11-1/2″ Rim / 17-fret Neck
Maple / 28 Hooks & Nuts
This 1922 Bacon Blue Ribbon banjo is in nice shape. Made of Maple with decorative wood layers all around the neck. The neck itself is two sides of Maple with 3-ply wood stringer along the center back. Above, you’ll see the 3-ply strip repeated under the fingerboard. The fingerboard is Ebony, sitting atop a thick slab of indigo-dyed Pear wood. The heelcap also is finished off with more multi-plies above the cap, itself. Lastly is the peghead. It has dyed Pearwood on the face and in back of peghead. And, of course, it also has above and below the peghead.
The blackened peghead overlay face has Bacon logo inlaid in pearl at the top, with Blue Ribbon inlaid with a leaf branch in center. The back of peghead (also blackened Pearwood), has an intricate medium sized oval inlay.
Schaller tuners with ivoroid buttons (not original).
The Pot is: 11.5″ Maple. It is a high grade rim assembly with lots of good features. It has 28 hooks and nuts; bottom of the rim is clad-over with nickel plated brass.
The tonering is more like a Gibson Flathead than it is to a Bacon “Silver Bell” tonering, for instance.
Comes with its original hard case.
