This is a rare uncracked guitar from 1930 in exceptional original condition. Wonderful neck reset by our luthier John Joyner was completed recently. 12-fret neck joint construction with slotted headstock.

This is one of the classic abalone-bound guitar models from Martin. All the aesthetics are tastefully balanced with back and sides of quarter-sawn Brazilian Rosewood. Top is very nice Red Spruce and has beautiful color and character. Grain is interesting. Brazilian Rosewood peghead overlay. Gabon Ebony fingerboard with snowflake and cat eye inlays. Original Ebony bridge in great shape. We don’t know how old the pins are but there is a lovely set of bridge and end pins. Original 3-on-a-plate tuners with engraved plate.

Creamy and ivoroid binding on neck, top, and back of guitar. Matching endwedge, heelcap, and original tuner buttons. Back edge has multiple wood purfling inside the binding. Top of guitar has multiple wood purflings in conjunction with abalone. Abalone purflings around top edge, fingerboard extension, and soundhole. Colorful herringbone backstrip in back. C.F. Martin & Co stamp in back of peghead and inside guitar on Spruce backing strip.

This guitar has had no repairs other than neck reset, fret maintenance, and bridge reglued recently. Playability is maximized with nice low action, straight neck, and no buckling of top or back. No problems anywhere on this guitar. There are a handful of tiny marks on the top and body and some sparse polite finish checking on the guitar, but it is in amazing condition. All original finish in exemplary condition.

The tone on this guitar is really wonderful. The bottom end is huge for a guitar of its size, sustaining long and full. This guitar rings with woody magic and the richness of the finest old Brazilian Rosewood.

The case is a remarkable addition to this original 1930 guitar. The original Lifton case is in extra-fine condition. This is one of the nicest examples of a Lifton case we have ever seen.
