This all Mahogany 1943 Martin 0-15 is a fantastic guitar. It packs a punch for its size and the playability is really nice. Built with Cuban Mahogany, known as “original Mahogany” or “Genuine Mahogany” or, more precisely as “Swietenia mahogani”. This wood is prized for its grain and ultimately for the tone. But it is increasingly hard to find. Usually the way to acquire this wood is to wait for a Cuban Mahogany tree to wash up on a Florida beach after a Hurricane.

The Rosewood peghead overlay has the “Martin and Co. EST 1833” decal at the top, and 3-on-a-plate open-back tuners with cream buttons. Ebony nut. The “V” profile Mahogany neck is shaped very nicely all the way up the neck, with the first couple positions shaped more like a “C” profile. Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard with ivoroid dot inlays. Frets are in great shape with almost no wear. Original tortoise plastic pickguard is lifting at lower portion of outer edge. Brazilian Rosewood straight bridge with cut-thru bone saddle.

One top crack repaired on treble side of the top. It’s about 4″ long and is seen from the lower edge of the top and up toward the pickguard. One small side crack repaired. Original pickguard is curling up on the edge.

This guitar is a fantastic instrument that looks wonderful and sounds like you’re playing a much larger guitar. The bass notes are not thin.

There are little insignificant dings here and there around the guitar, but nothing to get worried about. Strap button installed in correct position in the side of heel. Old cream plastic bridge pins and endpin.
The bridge plate string holes were worn, but now have been professionally bolstered with a thin hard Maple strip, so that the string balls don’t pull up into the Mahogany top.

Comes with a new TKL AVS velvet-lined hard case.
