Gold Hdwe / All Original

This is a good ready-to-go Gibson F-12 model mandolin from 1949. It is all original except for nice new fret job and set-up.
Traditionally built, with nice Spruce top and a book matched Bird’s-eye Maple back. Mahogany neck. Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard and Bridge.

Blackened peghead veneer has Gibson decal logo at top and trussrod access below, above the pearl nut. Openback 4-on-1-plate tuners with pearl buttons. Freshly fretted flat Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays. Side dot position markers on bass side binding. Fingerboard bound with cream bindings.

The tobacco sunburst body has cream bindings around top and back edges. Original 5-ply pickguard. Original clamshell tailpiece with “Gibson” engraved in the removeable lid. Brazilian Rosewood 2-pc adjustable bridge.

Nice mandolin with good sound and playability.

There are two areas of cosmetic concern: The scroll of the peghead broke off and is non-professionally glued together (see photos). Next, on the back of the full profile rounded V neck, there is an area of lacquer wear that has had finish painted over the area. This area could be made much better by removing the finish and re-finishing the back of neck.
