This 1962 Gibson Melody Maker is a pretty nice guitar. Yes, the body is refinished… but it was done quite nicely. The Mahogany slab body looks fine, with thin clear finish showing open pores and some darker opaque brown on the edges inside the double cutaway. This finish looks fine in person or on stage and certainly doesn’t cause and tonal or any playing problems.

Narrow “Gibson” peghead, with no extra “ears” glued on peghead sides. The peghead is blackened and has Gibson logo decal at the top and the typical Gibson moustache shape at the top.
Trussrod access located just above the nut. Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays and cream side dot position markers.

Slab Mahogany body that has double cutaway. Black pickguard has “Melody Maker” name just past the end of the fingerboard; a lower portion surrounds the single coil pickup; and also surrounds the Volume, Tone and pickup jack.

What a great fun toy instrument that has tone and personality and above all, isn’t priced too high.
