Exposicion model (top model)

This “Exposicion” (Exposition), model 1964 Casa Nunez Classical guitar is a very interesting guitar in nice playing shape. The woods appear to be Cuban Mahogany (Swietenia mahogani), back and sides and an excellent Spruce top.
Cuban Mahogany is sometimes referred to as “Genuine” Mahogany, or “Original Mahogany”. The guitar has intricate wooden marquetry all over this guitar, including a beautiful double backstrip that also extends to act as the purfling around the back edge. Every part of this classical is covered in decorative marquetry or detailed carved material.

Antigua Casa Nunez refers to “The Old House of Nunez”, referring to the founder, Nunez, and his original luthier shop founded in 1870 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Two partners, Senor Diego y Senor Gracia, became the owners of this venerable old guitar shop by 1919 or so. They continued to produce guitars right up to present time.

This “Exposicion” model appears to have a carved peghead overlay. Metal emblem with bird attached to the back of the headstock. Interesting tuners with engraving and white plastic buttons. Zero fret nut. Ebony fingerboard has thin frets and no inlays. No side dot position markers. Bridge has a bone saddle and a decorative cream plate with wooden marquetry in the center.

Spruce top is in good shape with a minimal amount of wear. Really nice grain in the Spruce. Looks to have one small crack repair on the treble side of the top near the waist. Soundhole rosette made up of three concentric circles of wooden marquetry, repeating the purfling around the top and back edges of the instrument. *There is one spot where a tiny piece of the marquetry purfling is missing.

This guitar has very good sound and comes with a good hard case.
