This 1971 Gibson ES-345 TDC guitar is a one-owner instrument! It was used for gigs but was handled carefully and remains largely unscathed. The ES-345 is similar to an ES-335, with a few differences:

  • ES-345 is wired in Stereo, while ES-335 is wired in Mono.
  • ES-345 has the 6-position Vari-Tone control, while ES-335 does not.
  • ES-345 has gold-plated hardware.
  • ES-345 has parallelogram inlays instead of dots
  • ES-345 has quartersawn Spruce bracing compared to the regular Spruce bracing on the ES-335.
  • ES-345 is overall slightly warmer and more compressed than the ES-335.

The body is Maple with a Mahogany neck. Built inside the body is a Maple block that the pickups and bridge are mounted into. This block is what makes this guitar a “semi” hollowbody, instead of a true hollowbody.

There is evidence of playing wear but nothing to be worried about. Most of the wear is just shirt button smooth rub marks on the back and some gold rubbed off of the gold plated parts. Tuners were also changed out to Grover Imperials and colorful rhinestones were added to the outer edge of the pickguard and on the peghead veneer. The frets show moderate wear, especially in first few frets, but none have deep V divots.

Blackened peghead veneer has gold pearl Gibson logo inlaid at top with gold pearl crown inlay in center. Seven rhinestones have been tastefully inlaid around the peghead face. Original truss rod cover and screws. Newer professional nut.
Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard with pearloid parallelogram inlays. Body and neck are bound with antiqued white binding with dark red side dots. The top face shows a black accent line in the binding.

All electronics are original. All wiring is original.
Two humbucking p/u’s.
Two Volume pots, two tone pots, three-way p/u selector, 6-way Vari-Tone switch.
Bigsby Tremolo.
Tune-a-matic bridge.
