This “One Owner” 1994 Ted Beringer 18″ Guitar Bass is a seriously professional bass guitar. 31-1/2″ short scale Jazz Box with arched top and back, f-holes and round cutaway. Hand built by Ted Beringer in Billings, Montana in 1994.
Big 18″ Body Width. We’re not sure of the wood used in the back and sides. High grade Spruce top. Round cutaway. Thumb rest is similar to a normal pickguard but on the opposite side. Rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays. back of peghead has hardwood veneer backing. Heelcap.
The late Ted Beringer was a noted maker of an inventive and varied line of professional Jazz guitars, famous among serious jazz musicians for decades. This example of an archtop acoustic guitar-style bass was owned by Chuck Hurt, a very respected Jazz player in Missoula, Montana for years.
This big beautiful guitar has blonde finish and multiple bindings, with black outer bindings. The f-holes are stylized with points above and below. The f-holes are also bound inside with the same multiple bindings. The bass side has a sort of a “pickguard” that acts more as a thumb rest.
The bridge is a two piece Ebony adjustable bridge with a piezo pickup mounted in the saddle. The wire goes directly into the top and thru to the endpin jack. Treble f-hole has volume control mounted at upper end.
Elaborately multiple bound headstock with large pearl triangle at top and large pearl “T”. Truss rod cover has “Beringer” engraved.
This bass puts out great sound and is in very nice condition. Comes with a Gig Bag.
