Description

VG+ Condition. 1 3/4″ width at nut.  2 5/16″ string spacing at bridge.

Adirondack Spruce top with scalloped advanced X-bracing. Body has black binding, like some late 1930’s D-18’s. Mahogany back, sides and neck. Bone nut and saddle. Radiused Ebony fingerboard with pearl dot inlays. Nickel Waverly pre-war style open-back tuners with butterbean knobs. Brazilian Rosewood peghead overlay with Martin decal. Generous neck profile. Back of neck has had outer layer of finish removed for a “speed neck” feel – hand glides up and down the neck more smoothly without the outer lacquer.
Sound is very strong with good projection. Guitar has had recent professional set-up and playability is very good.

Here is the repair history:
Significant repairs have been done to restore this guitar to its current highly playable state. A former employee of ours bought this guitar from us a few years ago because it sounded so powerful. Then, while trying to write a song late at night, he succeeded in falling over and crushing the back of the guitar. The back was professionally replaced with a high grade matching Mahogany back handmade by John Joyner. Finish has been professionally touched up on sides and back. During subsequent months, the back sustained 2 long cracks, one on each side.

Here is what it means:
If you pick this guitar up, it shows a few dings to the top and shows two back cracks. At the jam your friends will notice how great it sounds and you will remember you paid $1950 for it instead of $2750 for it…

Here is a soundclip from our friend Isaac Callender.
