This 2012 Roy Noble Concert is a one of the best sounding Noble’s we have had through the shop. It is completely lacquer checked on the body. It has always been this way because when it was sprayed with finish, a lacquer without enough plasticizer was used. The original buyer of this guitar wanted to keep it this way and approved it since it sounded fantastic and had great playability. If you can ignore the lacquer checking (which actually looks pretty cool) it really is fully opened up and has great balance. This guitar was originally bought by a very frequent customer of ours that knew the difference between a good guitar and a great one. He had a collection of Noble guitars. This Noble stands up to any high-end brand OM that we’ve had in the shop.
The Rosewood peghead overlay features Noble’s signature diagonal inlay across the headstock, and a Maple truss Rod cover with “Noble” written down the center. Nickel open-back Waverly tuners with ivoroid buttons. Bone Nut. The Rosewood fingerboard does not have any inlays but it does have small side dot position markers. The “C” profile Mahogany neck is slightly shallow which helps for quick transitioning. Maple heelcap.
The Tobacco sunburst Spruce top has lacquer checking, and it appears to have one slight crack repair below the bridge on the treble side. The top is extremely resonant. Ebony bridge with bone bridge pins and saddle. Colorful rope-style soundhole rosette with Maple accent lines. The same rope-style purfling is found on the edge of the top against the Maple binding. The Mahogany back and sides also have finish checking and signs of player wear, but they do not appear to have any cracks or previous crack repairs. Maple binding on the back edge. Maple end wedge.
This 2012 Roy Noble Concert is coming to us from a collection of 60 instruments. This guitar was the previous owners favorite of all of them, and its not hard to see why. Comes with the original hard case.
