This is a small, arch-top guitar body octave mandolin. Lower bout measures 14″. Beautiful Spruce top. 2-pc. flamed Maple back, 2-pc. Maple neck with Ebony stringer. Ebony heelcap with multiple bindings. The neck profile is a rounded “V”, with a gradual fade to a “U” shape as you go further up the neck. Waverly gold tuners with Ebony buttons. The peghead is very well done artistically. It has distinctive cuts, and wood parquet work with burled wood on the outside of Ebony to accent. Multiple bindings seen on sides and face of peghead with black outer bindings. Mowry logo is inlaid in Pearl in the peghead. Very nice flourish of geometric shapes in the center of peghead. Ebony truss rod cover. Bone nut. Ebony fingerboard has graduated “Cut-diamond” inlays with reverse black bindings with accent line seen on face of the fingerboard and sides. Ebony plate pickguard. Uniquely designed Ebony bridge. Beautiful Ebony tailpiece with burled wood on the sides to reprise the artwork on the peghead.

This 2014 Octave mandolin from Andrew Mowry is quite nice. It looks, feels and sounds very good. Very high marks for design and workmanship perfection, as well as very high marks for tone.
