If you are looking for a great sounding Givens but don’t want to pay top dollar, then this is the one for you. It has a good amount of lacquer wear and general player wear, but it is in good playing shape. Spruce top, Maple back and sides, and a “V” profile Mahogany neck.
The peghead has had so much finish checking that you can hardly see the Givens logo in the center. Bone nut. Nickel Schaller tuners with pearloid buttons. The “V” profile Mahogany neck has a fair amount of wear, including an area that is worn though the finish in the first position. Various other dings and a good amount of lacquer checking on the neck as well. The Ebony fingerboard has pearl dot inlays, and side dot position markers.
The Spruce top is similar to the neck when considering wear. It has an area of wear through the finish where fingernails and picks have worn though over time. Another area on the bass side of the top by the tailpiece has wear through the finish as well. Finish checking on the top. Ebony adjustable bridge, and Nickel tailpiece with “Gibson” engraved in the center. Cream binding on the top edge. The Maple back and sides are in better condition than the top and neck, but it still has the same finish checking. Spread out dings and scratches on the back and sides as well. Cream binding on the back edge of the Maple back. Ebony end pin with pearl dot.
With all of the wear and tear mentioned, this is still a killer mandolin. If you can ignore the aesthetics, this mandolin sounds fantastic and plays nicely.
It has great presence and powerful projection. Solid Chop. Comes with a nice Crossrock tweed case.
