This new Collings 00-2HG arrived to us already sounding fantastic as a new guitar. Every time we receive a New Collings we know what to expect. They never come in sounding dull or having any issues. Instead, they sound powerful and the attention to detail is incredible. This 00-2HG is no exception. Indian Rosewood back and sides, “C” profile Mahogany neck, and a German Spruce top.
The slotted peghead features a Rosewood peghead overlay with Collings pearl logo inlaid at the top. Nickel Waverly Tuners with nickel lobed buttons. “C” profile Mahogany neck is nicely shaped. Diamond Volute. Ebony fingerboard has small diamond abalone inlays and side dot position markers. Bone nut and ivoroid heelcap.
The German Spruce top has lovely wide grain. Ebony pyramid style bridge with ebony bridge pins (pearl dots) and a bone saddle. Small tortoise plastic pickguard. Herringbone purfling before the ivoroid binding on the top edge. The two piece Indian Rosewood back is separated by an intricate wooden marquetry back strip. Ivoroid end wedge with ebony pearl dot end pin installed. Ivoroid binding on the back edge of Indian Rosewood back and sides.
This new Collings 00-2HG is great for any style of playing. Sounds great in standard as well as other alternate tunings. It is setup and ready to go. Comes with a great Collings hardcase.
