This Collings D-2HG is straight out of the box and is sounding fantastic. It is always impressive how good a brand new Collings sounds, and this one is no exception. The pairing of German Spruce with Indian Rosewood is a wonderful combination.
The peghead veneer features a Collings MOP logo inlay at the top. Bone nut. Nickel Waverly tuners with Nickel 3-lobed buttons. The modified “V” profile neck features a diamond volute and ivoroid heelcap. The Ebony fingerboard has small abalone diamond inlays at 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th, and 15th frets, and small pearl dot inlays on the bass side of the fingerboard. Ebony bridge has a bone saddle and Ebony bridge pins with abalone dots.
The German Spruce top has some really lovely grain. It features a tortoise pickguard, Herringbone purfling before the ivoroid binding on the top edge, and an interesting soundhole rosette. Indian Rosewood back and sides are very nice with a “Zipper” back strip separating the two-piece Indian Rosewood back.
This is a thunderous guitar when you want power and projection. Comes with the original hard case.
