1958 (First Year) / #32428
All Original Parts and Paint
Correct Tweed Case
Rare Dakota Red
This 1958 Fender Jazzmaster guitar is a rare find. Not only is it all original but it is very rare in having a rare Dakota Red Custom color. Of these “first year” Jazzmaster models from 1958, most were sunburst finish throughout that year. This one is a very rare “first year” in original Dakota Red.
It is also a rare find because it is in such original condition… right down to the copper cavity pans! And it has the correct tweed case! And it sounds great and plays well.
This is a guitar that was played a lot but was never mistreated. No careless bangs, no replacing of original parts. None of the original switches, p/u’s, bridge, nut, knobs, pots, tuners, etc have been replaced.
There are quite a few things that set the Fender Jazzmaster apart from other Fender solid bodies, the shape, the pickups, the tremolo, etc.
But I think the biggest difference is the 2 separate circuits for the pickups…
To explain, There are basically 2 different pickup circuits on a Jazzmaster guitar, one on the right side which is controlled by the Volume and Tone knobs and pickup selector switch.
On the left side the 2nd circuit is controlled by the black slider switch, the knurled roller wheels (one for Vol, one for Tone) and the pickup selector switch.
As you might imagine, there are quite a few tonal choices you can cycle thru.
Remember… This 1958 Jazzmaster is a bone fide original 1958 Jazzmaster in the correct Jazzmaster Tweed Case.
