This John Blodgett Kore Octave Mandolin from 2000 is a very sweet instrument. Made in USA in Glen Cove, Maine. Extremely highly figured Koa back and sides, Mahogany neck and carved Spruce archtop with oval hole. Handmade Ebony Bridge and Tailpiece. There was a crack or two alongside the tailpiece, on the top. These are repaired and nicely touched-up. X-bracing.

The Mahogany neck has a beautiful peghead veneer of figured Koa for its face. Gold Schaller Mini tuners are installed in peghead. Bone nut. Gabon Ebony fingerboard has MOP medium dot inlays. Very Small dots are inlaid along the bass side of fingerboard for position markers. The fingerboard is vaulted above the carved top.

The body is breathtakingly clean and beautiful. Fully bound with Rosewood main bindings that have accent lines of purfling inside the top and back edges. The oval soundhole has a simple double circle of thin wooden strips for its rosette. The center of the back also shows off a Rosewood center strip that has accent lines that are Mitre’d-in to the accent lines in the outer back bindings. Hard to describe, but very beautiful to look at!

You will thank yourself over and over for buying this instrument. It has the looks, the playability and the sound… Oh, and it comes with its original Hard Case.
