These “traditional” models from Collings represent the finest attenuation to prewar tone yet. Using lighter examples of their premium woods, Collings’  experienced hand-builders construct these models using only hide glue. Before the body is built, the individual woods are first selected for lighter mass… then they are sanded even thinner than a “stock” Collings. Great attention is paid to small details inside and outside the guitar to make it closer to guitars built in the 1930’s. Fine details, like extra thin finish (around .003″) and Collings hand-built case complete the package.

Choice mahogany back, sides and neck. Animal glue construction. Wood purfling and rosette. Custom pre-war neck profile. Ebony peghead veneer. Slightly rounded edge of fingerboard. Traditional neck carve. Gold pearl inlays. Antiquing on entire guitar. Waverly tuners. Cut-thru saddle. No tongue brace. Tortoise celluloid pins.

These traditional guitars are fantastic, especially for the price. The Adirondack/mahogany combination makes for a powerhouse guitar… but then the torrefication of the top (baking), causes the guitar to sound more like it’s 35 years old. You would not believe how great the guitar is in the handmade case from Collings. We have trouble keeping these in stock. Book this guitar or a similar one today. (406) 327-9925.
