This 2017 Rich DeLeon A-5 #617 is a very nice condition traditionally-built A-5 mandolin with Virzi Tone enhancer under the top! Half-sawn Maple back & sides with high-grade Spruce top. Ebony peghead overlay, bridge and fingerboard. The entire instrument is bound with grained ivoroid bindings.
The “Snakehead” peghead has maker’s “R” inlaid at top with pearl Star bel0w. Truss rod access just above the Bone nut. The ivoroid bound Flat fingerboard has a double-cut extension and graduated small pearl dot inlays.
Multiple bound tortoise plate pickguard mounted with 2 pins, similar to early Gibson mandolins’ method to attach. One-pc Ebony adjustable Brekke bridge.
The tailpiece is a re-issue of the older style clamshell tailpiece usually seen from 1920’s up into the 1960’s. This tailpiece doesn’t use an endpin for attaching a strap. Instead it has a tunnel
The body is also bound with ivoroid on the top and back. Traditional flat-sawn figured Maple back & sides. Full feeling “U” profile with prominent ridge line in back. Gotoh tuners.
This instrument is quite nice and is in almost new condition. There is one strap-button hole at the tip of the heel cap that has been filled.
No apparent wear on this mandolin. Comes with a good hard case.
